Graduate
Internship

General information:

  • This announcement is for spring interns with start dates in March and April 2021 and summer interns with start dates in May and June 2021. Please specify your availability in your application. To apply for an internship starting later in the year, contact nscullin@world-affairs.org.
  • During the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent stay home orders in Washington state, certain aspects of the internship program have changed to reflect the reality of the situation, including opportunities for remote internships, reduced work hours, and altered projects. If contacted for a phone screen or interview, you will be briefed on current policy and practice.
  • How many internships are available as well as what department they fall under are based off of confirmed programming and other factors. This often takes time and prevents us from advertising each individual opportunity. If contacted for a phone screen or interview, you will be briefed on current offerings.
  • All positions are open until filled. Early applicants will be given priority, though applicants may not be contacted until later in the season.
  • This is an unpaid internship.

Requirements:

  • A minimum three month (twelve week) commitment of 12-20 in-office hours each week on a regular schedule. Applications for six or nine month commitments are strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in international relations.
  • Fluent written and conversational English.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Professional attire and demeanor.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • No education requirement – the World Affairs Council does not require applicants to be current students. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and education levels.
